I’m a women in long term recovery from a substance abuse disorder. I’ve been teaching yoga and meditation to women in recovery for fours years . I’ve recently started hosting my own yoga and wellness retreat for women in recovery making sure they are accessible and affordable.
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m a mother of soon to be 3 children with the oldest being 16 and the second is 2 1/2, both boys, and expecting our first girl in Feb. My fiancé is also in recovery and works hard to provide for our family.
Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’ve been a C.N.A for 15 years. I work different aspects of the field from home care to ICU, neuro, and trauma . I love having the ability to connect with people on a personal level to give them that one to one care and insure they are in good hands .
What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Love small diners- Lucky’s Cafe , City Line Diner and my fave of all, Barbers Crossing in Leicester Ma
How long have you lived or worked in our community?
7 years
Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
That’s a loaded question, lol, there are truly so many incredible people here . I mean literally the city gives back on a daily basis. To name a few, Richard Gonzales and his wife from Net of Compassion and hundreds of people in my recovery community. The list is endless.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
California, still have to meet some amazing family from my fiancé’s side
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Well if you ask my fiancé, 😂 it’s got to be The Notebook.
What advice would you give to people?
What was told to me when I came into recovery, STAY IN THE MIDDLE . Find your tribe and stay close, so you don’t get picked off .
What is something on your bucket list?
Traveling overseas
What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Depending on mood anything from Lauryn Hill to Adele
What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
My favorite is Lucky 13 Botanicals- All natural products, women owned, made with love and care from the ground up
If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
My sober sisters and City Line Diner- I’d have breakfast because you can never go wrong.
What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The community service work that happens. It’s everywhere.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
My own wellness business. Giving back to women and continuing my recovery journey.
(Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I wanted to be a lawyer, but failed miserably at mock trial… froze up and walked out. That’s was the end (eye roll).
