One of Worcester’s own, Jermoh V. Kamara is a Worcester Public School graduate having attended, Canterbury Street School, Sullivan Middle, and South High.

Today, Ms.Kamara is a public health professional, who, upon graduating from South High in 2011 earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Policy and Management & Bachelor’s of Arts in Community Health from Providence College; a Master’s in Public Health from New York Medical College & is Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

A life long learner with experience in the international, national, and community health sectors, Jermoh has served as an adjunct lecturer at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Currently, she’s the Associate Director for the Center for Well-being at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
On her free time, she enjoys working out, traveling, and reading self-help materials.

Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
In my current career, I get the honor of advocating for students on my local School Board in Worcester at the university level where I serve as Associate Director for the Center for Well-Being at WPI. I get to serve, work with, and provide support to boost student’s wellness.

What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
I really do not have a favorite. I love foods from different countries. I eat at different restaurants, but my favorite food would have to be African food.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
To different parts of Africa and that’s because I’m from the African continent, and I love the different cultures that we have.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Maverick Music, a Christian band

What is your best advice?
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

Already married to the love of my life with children, Senator or US Ambassador, investor.

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
That I enjoy time alone.

Comfort, stable, friendly

It feels like home.
