Born in Worcester, Ma.
Father of 3
Grandfather of 5

Chuck (Charles Safford) Chillin’ fell in love with DJing at just nine years old.
By the time I was in high school, I was playing one of the biggest dance clubs in New England (Uptown) and have kept clubs, birthday parties, private events, weddings and community events packed, bouncing and jamming ever since. I have thrived for 33 years on WCUW 91.3 FM as the overnight DJ on *The Love ❀ Session* (slowjamz) from 12:00-3am every Saturday nite.

Specializing in Old School from the late 60’s through the 90’s to Today’s Hottest Hits. Chuck Chillin’ Got Da Hottest Beatz whether at community events, school functions, or at my legendary annual *Old Skool Jam Reunion Party*

I presently work at Coorstek Inc. as a Clean Room Associate. I love my job and enjoy very much what my job entails. Coorstek is a great place to work. When I’m not working there, I’m working on my music. I’ve been entertaining my Worcester community with music for 45 years as one of Worcester’s top requested & longest running DJs ever.

What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
It’s a toss up…I love fried chicken & homemade potato salad from Addie Lee’s Soul Food & Curry Goat/Oxtails with rice from Sazon Latino.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Florida… cuz it’s much warmer compared to here. Plus it’s on my lifetime *bucket list* πŸ˜‰

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Mint Condition…followed by New Edition and a couple of local favorites like Sunta Africa Band, Ladii Girl, Ricky Duran or Blue Light Bandits

What is your best advice?
Love like you’ve never been hurt… Dance as if noone is watchn…and work like you don’t need the money 😁

What is one of the top three items on your Bucket List?
To DJ onstage in front of hundreds/thousands of people and make them dance.

What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Worcester?
*Uptown* Under 21 Dance Club located downstairs inside the Worcester Center Galleria during the 80s. It’s where I got my name Chuck Chillin’ and started my first gig as a DJ. Also, I got to add Strawberries Records & Tapes where I got most of my music from.

Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
DJ Jazzy Jeff/ DJ Scratch/ DJ Premier collectively. These guys are the best at what they do and inspire me to want to be a better DJ

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully being on that *big stage* performing in front of lots of people who would love to hear the music I share with them, or operating my own online radio station.

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
That I can cook…πŸ˜‰
