My name is Rachel Rubin. I am married to Joel Rubin and have 3 amazing children! I am the owner/director of the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers for 8 years with locations in Worcester and Westborough, MA. I am a resident and grew up in Worcester, MA. I attended Doherty High School and graduated in 2000. After graduating high school, I continued my dance education and training at Dean College graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Business. There I studied Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Dance History and Pedagogy. At Dean, I was a member and a soloist of the Dean College Dance Company and was also the co-captain and choreographer of the Dean College Dance Team. At Dean College, I was awarded the Joan Phelps Palladino Scholarship, the Franklin School of Performing Arts Scholarship as well as the Trustees Prize in Dance.
From 2004-2006, I was a member of the She Figure Dance Company where I performed in Cambridge, Boston and Martha’s Vineyard. In 2007, I joined the Charlotte Klein Dance Center as a full time faculty member teaching students from 2 yrs through 18 yrs old in both the Worcester and Westborough locations.
In 2013, l become the owner of the Charlotte Klein Dance Center. In addition, I taught at Notre Dame High School in Worcester teaching dance, choreographing the Fall and Spring shows, and was the director of the dance ensemble for 5 years. I loves sharing my passion with the dancers and the community! Seeing the faces of young dancers and proud parents and guardians is why I do it!

Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
I am the owner and director of the Charlotte Klein Dance Centers. What I love most about my job is that I am able to share not only the art of dance, but I also share all the lessons in life that come with it. I love to teach technique and the artistry of dance but to also instill confidence in the dancer.

What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
I love One Eleven Chop house! Anything on there menu is amazing!

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
This is tough question. I value all the people I meet in my life and find amazing qualities in each of them.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Africa. It has been my dream since college to travel there to study the families, dance, and their culture.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

What is your best advice?
To take “One Day at a Time”

What is one of the top three items on your Bucket List?
To travel to Africa

What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Worcester?
Honestly – the business I now own – Charlotte Klein Dance Centers which was owned by the late Charlotte Klein for over 60 years. This fall we will be heading into the 70th year of being in business

Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
This is a hard question, I love to meet people and find our about their lives, but I would like to sit and have lunch with Debbie Allen. What she has done in the dance world and how she influences the youth is admirable!

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself continuing to share my passion of dance with the community

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
I am honestly an open book. I share everything with everyone.

Family, Comfort, Love

What is your favorite thing or something unique about Worcester?
Worcester is home. It is a mix of city and suburbs. Worcester is diverse in culture and celebrates that.

What is your favorite smell?
Lavender!

My children, my students, my family and my co-workers
