My name is Jerry Filmore. I have been married 7 years to my beautiful wife. We currently live in Worcester with our kids. I moved to Worcester at the age of 13 in the Pleasant St. neighborhood. I’m currently on the Board of Directors for the Pleasant St. Neighborhood Network Center. I attended Doherty High School where I played football. I’m President of What’s Up Worcester, a local news outlet for our community which highlights great people doing great things as well as inform our community of things going on in the city. I’m also the creator of What’s Up Worcester’s 20 Under 20 which recognizes 20 youth in the community doing great things; we present them an award for their hard work and dedication.

Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
I’m currently President of What’s Up Worcester, a local news outlet. I would have to say I love the results of seeing people happy about what I put out and when you see how it helps someone and the happiness on their face, there is no better feeling.

What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
I would have to say its a tie between Pampas Churrascaria and Georges Bakery- Anything on the menu, it’s all so good, and it’s hard to choose.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
I would say one of my good friends, Jon. I met him when I lived in Hawaii. I’ve never met someone who was more genuine and saw nothing but good in every person and situation. Plus, his knowledge of all genres of music is crazy from the Beetles to Wu-Tang.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Egypt, Id love to see the pyramids up close and personal.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I’m such a music lover. My playlist is very eclectic; you would really be surprised.

What is your best advice?
I would say do you and stay in your own lane. Everyone has great ideas; some of our ideas may even be the same, but no one has your brain or way of doing things. Now go be great!!

What is one of the top three items on your Bucket List?
I want to visit each continent at least once. Doesn’t matter where, but I want to see the differences in cultures and foods. That would be dope!

What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Worcester?
I would say Skylite Roller Skating. When we were younger, that was the spot where everyone met to have fun and just skate or meet with friends.

Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
I would say Rashida Jones. She is the MSNBC president and first Black executive to run a major television news network. It would be great to be able to pick her brain and get some advice.

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I’d like to honestly see the fruits of OUR labors in full bloom and the next generation of good people continuing to do dope things. When I say OUR, I mean all the great people in Worcester, like the ones you see on The Faces of Worcester.

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
I’m actually a good dancer lol. That doesn’t mean you’re going to see me out there on the floor so hold the invites =).
