Born in Worcester and drawn back time and time again, I love living and playing and growing in the 508!
I’ve always loved science and art, and there’s plenty of both here to keep me busy. Over the years I’ve studied massage therapy, biology, and nursing right here in Worcester, as well as teaching science for a few years before entering healthcare. I started training in birth work in 2012 and have been working with growing families in various roles since then including doula and midwife. It’s hard to separate my identity from my vocation, but I do bring my own interests and sense of humor into my work with the community.
My husband Mark and I enjoy taking our kiddos, Lily (11) and Gabriel (5) on adventures around the area for live music, local food, and time outdoors. We can blow through art supplies and sushi like there’s no tomorrow! I don’t try too hard not to embarrass them in public, but hopefully they’ll remember the laughs and fun we have. We love diner breakfasts, local theater, consignment shops, chasing fireworks and jumping like maniacs at trampoline parks. Work hard, play hard!

Q: Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
I’m the owner and Midwife at Worcester Community Midwifery, a new practice I launched last year and am working towards building a community birth center. I love the relationships I get to build with families in and around Worcester, such an incredible opportunity to get to know some amazing people and watch them grow! The entry to parenthood is a golden opportunity to help people feel cared for and empowered, so their lives and the lives of their children can be happier and healthier.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
Absolutely unfair question, how does one choose?! I suppose lately I’d say Suzette Crêperie & Café on Water Street. Everything Jean-Luc and Clem make there is delicious, especially The Viking!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Perhaps I’d return to Greece. We visited Santorini and several other islands with our daughter years ago, I’d love to get back to the sun and beach and explore more places to bike and swim and eat. It’s all about the food.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
P!nk

Q: What is your best advice?
It seems that most things boil down to Love or Fear, so whenever possible, choose to think/speak/act from Love.

Q: What is one of the top three items on your Bucket List?
I have no talent for dancing, but I do wish I could learn some kind of dance really well and just absolutely nail it at an event someday, looks like so much fun!

Q: What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Worcester?
My inner child says Ecotarium for current, Skylite for former. My young adult self says Ralph’s Diner. My current self says James Street Place/The Wire , the building that not only houses my office, but was where my grandparents had their electrical businesses “Bombria Electric” and “Lantern & Lights” back in the 80’s. I used to go play on the adding machine and ring the demo doorbells, never thought I’d have my own healthcare practice in the same old building!

Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
Michelle Obama.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In five years, hope to be in full swing teaching and growing the community birth center. In ten years, if I’ve done it right, I should be working part time as the center is being led by the community members who have trained there and are stepping into leadership.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
Given the opportunity, I will always jump in the ocean, no matter what time of year. Always.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Comfort, family, connection.

Q: If a motion picture was made of your life, what actor/actress would you choose to play you?
Sutton Foster

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Worcester?
It’s like a secret that Worcester has so many great neighborhoods, places to eat and meet and explore. No one ever believes it’s the second largest city in New England!

Q: What is your favorite smell?
Pine trees

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My own kids, and the young people in our community.
