I grew up on the cape playing various sports, but my original passion was basketball. I played 4 years of college basketball at Simmons, serving as captain for 2 years.
It wasn’t until about 2012 that I discovered my true love, which is rugby! I am the current Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Worcester Shamrock’s Women’s Rugby Football Club, as well as the forward’s captain and openside flanker. We are currently training to make a run for the national championship in the spring, which is very exciting. I also love rock climbing and generally spending time outside hiking or camping. I have 2 pets-a dog and a cat.
I was exposed to physical therapy early on due to sports injuries, which piqued my interest. I am passionate about health, wellness, and functional fitness. I have earned a CSCS, Level 1 CFSC, and Level 1 Certified Barefoot Training Specialist and I am always taking courses to stay up to date on best practices so I can continue to grow my skills to better help my clients. I believe in holistic, proactive healthcare, and empowering people to get back in the driver seat when it comes to their health. I think a lot of people give away their power to various different kinds of health professionals, when really all they need is some guidance to help themselves. I love helping people tune into their bodies and empowering people with the tools they need to live a healthy, pain-free life.
Q: Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
I love being able to help someone who is struggling with finding a solution. We work with a lot of people who come in almost desperate, with a laundry list of clinicians and interventions they have tried to no avail. It is so amazing when we are able to educate people about pain and you see their mindset change. I love giving people their power back.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Worcester, and what is your favorite dish?
Sushi Miyazawa- Honestly, hands down best sushi in Worcester. Family owned and the service is amazing. Get the Christmas Roll and the Worcester Roll for the win!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
This is a tough one. I have one client (name withheld for privacy), who I have become friends with and she has so much life experience. She’s lived a really full life and overcome some serious challenges along the way. All while continuing to travel, raise kids, and stay active. She’s hiked and camped through the grand canyon and she remains super active with her grandson in her mid-late 60s. She doesn’t let society or anyone dictate what her limitations should be based on age, gender, or anything else. A true bad ass! I love having conversations with her and I find her mindset truly inspiring.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Costa Rica, it’s been on my bucket list for a while and I day dream about retiring there some day.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Depends on my mood- I like listening to Ray Lamontagne for a chill vibe, sometimes I listen to sound bowls when I need to calm my nerves, and I will admit to enjoying a female rapper montage when I am working out and want to get pumped up.
Q: What is your best advice?
Just keep going. You’re going to mess up. Take the lesson and grow from it. If you stay open to learning and can see mistakes or failures as something to learn from you can’t fail.
Q: What is one of the top three items on your Bucket List?
Cage diving with Great White sharks, See the Aurora Borealis, Cross country national park tour in a camper van
Q: What current/former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Worcester?
The Cove in Worcester was a great place to catch a show before it closed. May it rest in peace. 🙁
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you love to have lunch? Why?
Dr. Emily Splichal. She’s a functional podiatrist, educator, mother, and an amazing business woman. I’ve taken many of her courses and learned a great deal from her during my career. She’s an inspiration and I’d love to learn more about how she manages to do it all.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I’ll be in Worcester still! We will have grown our business to a level of 20-30 employees, which will allow us to help many more people in Worcester and the surrounding communities. I will be helping younger clinicians grow so that we can continue our mission to improve people’s outlook on healthy aging, as well as empower them to live their best lives. I personally plan to continue playing rugby and climbing, as well as travel more.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you, even your friends or family.
I only like to read books that have to do with learning (about business, physical therapy, health, diet, mindset growth, etc). I never really got into reading fiction for entertainment. Oh and I hate card games.
Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Safe, Peaceful, Loving
Q: If a motion picture was made of your life, what actor/actress would you choose to play you?
Aubrey Plaza because she’s funny and smart with a bit of edge. I think she would do a good job bringing light to the struggles and heart to the triumphs.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Worcester?
I think Worcester has a really great food scene. There is so much diversity in the types of restaurants and bars here so no matter what you want you can find some where doing it well. I love that most of these places are just small businesses, there’s not many chain restaurants here, just local people with a passion for what they do!
Q: What is your favorite smell?
Lavender Vanilla- just something relaxing and comforting about it; or Coffee- especially in the morning!
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My business partner and best friend- Ashlyn Tersigni. She is pretty much the definition of integrity. Someone who embodies what she preaches, holds people to a high standard and expects the same from herself. She is kind, intuitive, empathetic, loyal, and whip smart. She’s the kind of person that makes people around her better because she inspires them to fulfill their potential.
